Why should you go on Safari instead of going to the Zoo?
Why should you go on holiday to Africa to indulge in a safari, when there is one right out the back door? It is a common misconception that you can see everything in a zoo that you can see while on a safari. Well the best way to decide on one of the two is to weigh up the pros and cons of the two.
We’ll start with the Zoo. Money probably wont be that much of an issue. These animals are great, and the zoo gives everybody the chance to meet them, although they are behind bars or a sheet of glass. The chance to see these animals is rare, but a zoo offers this chance to everybody, in some cases you can actually interact with these animals (probably not the dangerous ones). If you compare the distances, you will find that there is probably a zoo much closer to you. Anyone usually has a zoo within about 100-150 miles of them, not 6000 miles in a plane. The fact that these animals are at your fingertips also offers an exciting, enjoyable and educational experience for everyone, taking your children couldn’t be easier.
So now let’s take a look at the Safari. Well, this is where it gets difficult for some people to understand how amazing these holidays are. This is a holiday that you only really need to go on once, but after you have been, you will want to go back again. It is an unbelievable experience seeing some of these majestic creatures in their original environment. Hearing the roar of a lion may be intimidating in the wild, but is truly exciting as well. If you do consider splashing out the money for this you wont be disappointed, but you will have to leave the kids at home. You will hear astonishing stories that your guide will tell you about and some of them are considered luxury holidays.
Think carefully when you go to the zoo the next time, the more you see these animals in captivity the more you will want to see them in the wild, you never know you might end up wanting a Kenya safari!
Why Learn German Slang Words?
Spending a little time learning colloquial language is one of the best things you can do to become fluent in a language. Everyday colloquial lingo allows you to develop more personal relationships with the locals, which means you’ll be more motivated to learn and you’ll have loads more fun with the language. For those of you who have tried learning German before but have lost motivation, focusing on learning German slang words and phrases will give your German a reviving jump-start. German slang is incredibly fun and the sooner you start using it, the better!
German slang for everyday: It’s a fact that even if you are familiar with the German language basics, if you don’t know German slang phrases you will be lost in many casual German conversations. Ordinary Germans use plenty of colorful slang expressions when sharing day-to-day experiences, chatting over a coffee at work or over a beer at the local bar. German slang is an essential part of everyday German conversation that strangely is often overlooked by German learners.
German language for spice: If you think of the German language as food, then think of German slang as the salt, pepper and spices. German slang phrases add spice and flavour to otherwise bland, standard German conversation and makes the German language loads more palatable. Sure you can survive without slang, but life tastes a whole lot better with it.
German slang for down to earth: Using German slang is a great way to demonstrate that you’re down to earth and don’t take yourself too seriously. That’s why slang will help you meet and integrate with other down to earth people. Learn German slang and you will familiarise yourself with how truck drivers, bakers, computer hackers, sports fans, motor bikers, soldiers and all sorts of ordinary (and not quite so ordinary) people talk – especially when they’re our for a few beers.
German slang to break the ice: German slang is as volatile as slang in any other language and does have a limited life expectancy. This means that when you use the latest popular German slang phrases and terms you’re demonstrating that you’re “with it”. This makes a great impression when meeting Germans for the first time.
German slang for color: As the Michael Jackson proclaimed “It don’t matter if you’re black or white!” German slang phrases are not necessarily offensive, abusive, low or vulgar language. Instead German slang is the colorful alternative language spoken by people who want to stand out from the dull masses. You can be black, white, yellow, red… but just don’t be grey!
German slang for irony and exaggeration: Like in English, Germans often convert originally negative words to a positive sense in order to emphasize or intensify, as in “terribly good” or “awfully nice”. Youth slang is more concerned with being intense in order to push the language beyond its limits. Youth slang makes use of a whole series intensifiers, such as galaktisch-, giga-, hyper-, maxi-, mega-, ober-, super-, turbo-, ultra-, and more.
German slang for regional: While a lot of German slang phrases are understood all across Germany, there are also a lot of German regional slang expressions. This German slang podcast focuses on the most popular and useful German slang terms. Also, although there is much similarity between the slang spoken in different German speaking countries, there are also differences between the German slang spoken in Germany, Swiss German slang and Austrian German slang. Switzerland and Austria have many of their own slang phrases, terms and expressions – just like the English slang in Great Britain differs from the English in America. So use slang to your advantage to develop a real connection to the local German speaking people.
Get the Best from Airport Services
There are some great services provided at most airports for the benefit of travellers. If you, like me, only visit airports once or twice a year when travelling to an from your holiday destination you are probably not aware of all of the various airport travel services available to you.

But they aren’t the only ones who can enjoy these great facilties. Anyone can enjoy the relaxed tranquility of an airport lounge. Lounges are like oases in the midst of the the airport hustle and bustle.

Using a local airport hotel for the night before an early morning flight is an excellent way to be certain that you won’t be late to the airport. There are some fantastic facilities at many airport hotels inlcluding top quality restaurants, bars, entertainment and swimming pools. They provide a little bit of extra luxury enabling you to start your holiday even before you have left the country and you will be surprised at how cheap they can be.
Many people headed for their vacation destination prefer to travel to the airport in their own cars. Driving is often the most sensible choice when you have luggage and family in tow. But then you have the problem of parking your car, securely, while you are away?
Airport parking services are there to keep your car locked up and safe while you are away. You can relax knowing that your car is well looked after and will be waiting for you on your return. At many airport car parks you can even arrange for a valet service to clean your car while you are away.

Why do Travel Agencies play with smells to make you want a holiday?
The Recession is causing people to take part in some new and interesting ways to get people to purchase new items or in this case, holidays. It’s all down to the travel agent, convincing us to invest in a holiday, using aromas to remind us of previous ones. The smells are supposed to remind customers of previous holidays, trying to jog their memories.
Encouraging people to book holidays can be a quite a task unless they have already made up their minds. We may not be able to detect them immediately and we may not notice them at all, but it might be enough to convince you to take that holiday. These travel agents are using the smell of; oranges, and coconuts to create a different smelling experience for different places, oranges work well with the Mediterranean. Barbados holidays have benefited from all kinds of sales techniques; they seem to be one of the most popular holidays this year.
Thompson has claimed that Coconut is the best choice and used frequently throughout their shops. This particular smell is that of Sun Cream Lotion, a very clever way to get people thinking about the sun and the sea. In order to appeal to family members, First Choice have been using smells like ice cream to encourage family holidays. Caribbean holidays sales recently have been doing very well.
However it has not been the Travel Agent who has first come up with this idea to play with our noses to increase sales. Travelodge used smells to keep memories of the place stored in people’s minds. In order to make there customers stay an easily remembered one, they used the aroma of apple pie or grass.
So how does this actually help them to boost sales? Well it is relatively clear; some smells can quickly call on the memory to remind us of times we have had in the past. It will be possible for us to notice this smell, and although we wont be able to place it, it will be running through the back of our minds. You will experience something that causes a subconscious memory to re-appear and remind you of a specific holiday. So try St Lucia holidays for that relaxing experience, and a relaxing new aroma!
Record High Bookings for Cruise Holidays
A large number of UK cruise lines including P&O and Fred Olsen have reported a surge in cruise bookings for 2010 and 2011.
P&O and Cunard Line reported that their sales at the beginning of July for booking 2011 world cruises rose by a massive 47% on last year. The rise in sales means that they had 2,044 people bookings cruises, compared to last year where they only saw 1,385.
Fred Olsen has reported that their last week of sales was the second highest sales week in the history of the cruise line. Fred Olsen have put the rise in sales down to the release of their 2010-2011 brochure which was released towards the middle of June. They also said that their previous customers, as well as new customers, are realising how good value a cruise is becoming.
There are also a large number of factors that tend to tempt people towards choosing a cruise. One is that a large number of cruises for UK customers depart from UK ports. This means that customers don’t have to pay for air travel to get to the start location of the cruise. Another advantage for cruises is that the cruises use pound sterling which means you don’t have to exchange money, plus the trip is easier to budget for.
The popularity of cruises has been on the rise over the years. Even if you enjoy active holidays, many cruise liners have a wide range of activity sports on board and on land. You can also go to a wider range of places, for example, you can book Antarctica cruise holidays which will take you around the sites of Antarctica, you certainly couldn’t see that through a normal holiday.
A big reason why people are choosing cruises is because you get the feeling of more than one holiday rolled into one. If you wanted a holiday in Chile, you would only visit Chile, however, with a cruise, you get a holiday on the cruise, you then stop off at Chile, plus you will also stop at a number of other places. This gives you a wider ranges of places to visit and things to do, plus at a cheap price.
Easter Bunny Pictures: Ideas To Store Them
After a few years of getting Easter bunny pictures with the kids, they are going to start piling up and eventually you are going to need to start thinking of a better way to store them so that they are out of the way but also protected so that you can keep them and treasure them. Well there are some great ideas for ways that you can look at that Easter bunny costume and the look on your kids faces for a lifetime, and here are a few.
How to Store Your Easter Bunny Pictures
So when it comes to storing Easter bunny pictures, there are a few different ideas that you could go for. One is to take your Easter bunny pictures and put them online. In today’s world this is not surprising to have as an option, and is one way that you are definitely going to be able to keep them safe.
You can scan the pictures onto your computer and then make a folder specifically for all your Easter photos so that you can make sure to stay organized. Then you can just keep adding on as the years go by and continue on with this routine. The best part is that you are not going to have to worry about taking space in your home, space which you probably don’t have to begin with anyway.
Another idea on how to store your Easter bunny pictures is to get a photo album. This is the basic way of doing this the way that we are all used to, and it still works great. Really the only problem that people have with storing their Easter bunny pictures and other pictures this way is that underneath the cellophane the printed pictures tend to yellow over time, but there are ways to avoid this.
There are products that you can buy which are specifically for this purpose, and which you basically paint over the sheets of cellophane before putting your pictures underneath. This is going to stop them from getting yellowish tone and make them usable for life long. You can find this sort of product at any of your local craft stores so it will certainly not be hard to find, and you can also order online if you want to buy in bulk for instance if you want to get all your family’s Easter photos done this way so that they stay in the best condition.
How Does a ‘Chav-Free’ Sound?
At the beginning of this year, Activities Abroad, a holiday company based in Northumberland, sent an email to it’s entire customer database. The email said how the company can promise ‘Chav-free’ holidays, this got quite a few people angry.
So far the campaign seems to have been beneficial, despite a large number of angry customers because of the email. The company that offers a range of active holidays have recently reported that they have seen a 32% rise in sales. It goes to show that not many people want to go on holiday with chavs.
The way the company claims that have ‘chav-free’ holidays is by saying that their customers have middle-class names. In the email that they sent out to their 24,000 customers, they said how their customers are more likely to have names such as Michael, Charles or Alice.
They also said that if you book a holiday with them then you are less likely to be on holiday with people named Dazza or Chardonnay, who are considered ‘chav’ names.
They didn’t stop there, they then continued with some education, name based statistics. They said that if you have a name like Duncan or Alice, you are 8 times more likely to pass your GCSEs. Compared to people named Dwayne or Wayne.
Even though the company received a large number of emails from angry customers, the company said that they are pleased with their campaign.
This was said by a spokesman for the holiday company: “Essentially, our clientele has embraced the tongue-in-cheek nature of the original campaign and, having examined the names of the people booked to travel with the company this summer, we can report that there is not a Kylie-Lianne or K’Tee in sight!”
So, if you are fed up of going on your antarctica holidays with a bunch of Dwayne’s and Wayne’s and you’d much rather go on a galapagos holiday and mingle with some respectable Duncan’s and Alice’s, then maybe a ‘chav-free’ holiday is what you need.
Meeting That Special Someone on Holiday
When you think of holidays you probably think of getting away from work for a bit, topping up your tan and maybe letting your hair down. However, one of the fastest growing sectors in the holiday industry is the singles holiday, particularly luxury cruises singles holidays. This is where people go away to lovely destinations with the goal of finding some like-minded people and hopefully building relationships. Here is a guide to the most important things to bear in mind when going on this type of holiday and how to present yourself in the best possible way.
Have a glow. If you are going to a hot location like you might do on silversea cruises, you really don’t want to be turning up looking like a milk bottle. Having a little colour makes a big difference, especially as first impressions count for a lot of these types of holiday. Don’t get carried away and end up looking like you’ve emptied a whole body of fake tan on yourself, a healthy glow will do
Relax. If you are uptight, nervous or shifty no one will want to talk to you. You’ll find that everyone on these types of holidays are in the same situation and will much more willing to communicate if you let your guard down, if only just a little bit. If the situation were reversed and you met someone very nervous, your advice would probably be to calm down and don’t worry. You just need to convince yourself to trust your own advice
Enjoy yourself. Following on from the last point, finding someone and living happily ever after should not be the be all and end all of your holiday. At the end of the day you still go on holiday to have fun and relax and this should be no different on singles holidays. If you do meet someone that’s great, but if not there is always next time. For singles cruises try AMA waterways cruises
Holiday Cottages with History
What better holiday experience could there be than relaxing in a charming and quaint holiday cottage? There are several of these delightful little cottages around the south of England, all of which been have tastefully refurbished, offering excellent standards of comfort and convenience, whilst retaining many of their original period features. Combining those amenities with a location that’s both steeped in history and colour and convenient for exploring further afield makes for a great holiday.
You can get that high standard of Sussex cottage holiday accommodation and a location steeped in interest in the heart of the historic market town of Arundel.Convenient for most of the south coast and the beautiful countryside inland in Sussex thanks to excellent road and rail links, Arundel itself has a fascinating story.By the time of the Domesday Book in 1086 Arundel had become a flourishing market town which is when Arundel Castle was originally built in wood by the Norman Lord, Roger de Montgomery. Arundel was a busy little port with ships plying the river Arun to the sea just five miles away.During the English Civil War Arundel Castle changed sides three times and lay in ruins until the end of the 18th century when it was rebuilt.
And if the architecture and countryside doesn’t appeal, perhaps the fact that very few holiday cottage Sussex destinations can claim as many ghosts as Arundel will! There are said to be at least four in Arundel Castle: a child who worked in the kitchens about 200 years ago, a young woman who committed suicide by throwing herself off Hiorne Tower, the ‘Blue Man’ who has been seen searching through the castle library and the ghost of a small white bird that flutters around the windows of the castle. Arundel town prison also has its share of spectres including the Grey lady.Even without the spectral diversions, holiday cottages in Arundel are guaranteed to help you relax in tranquillity and luxury that is full of charm, period personality and style.
How Should Travel Companies Be Communicating?
The travel and holiday industry is one of the fastest moving of all sectors. It needs to be as the competition is fierce and customers are expecting every higher levels or service. A lot of companies are quickly finding that their practices are outdated and their potentially customers are going else ware because they are being reached quicker and other companies have more efficient methods of letting their customers know what is going on during every step of their booking. Below we examine 3 of the latest communication methods that more travel companies are choosing to utilise
Email. You could argue that email has been around for quite a while now and is not a new form of communication. Yet there are still travel companies who do not use it to its full potential and instead still do most of their communication via phone or post. Those companies who have embraced this technology, like Oceania Cruises, are using it to attract customers via newsletters etc, arrange travel bookings, deal with customer enquiries instantly, provide up to date information to customers on their booking and send out billing info to name a few.
Online booking. There are lots of companies now following the trend of taking their whole booking process online and making it automated. These systems make the booking process easy, convenient and instant, which is what the modern day consumer demands now. Obviously this is used alongside other communication methods but companies who do not adopt this, especially in the luxury cruises domain, will soon struggle
Social media. You must of had your head in the sand if you’ve not caught all the talk about how great (or how bad) social media can be for businesses. However, companies that are at the top of their game or willing to keep an open mind, like Oberoi Nile Cruises, are reaping the rewards by communicating with potential customers on their own level and in an informal setting. Something that has got the travel industry excited at the moment is Twitter, which is a platform that allows companies to communicate with a wide spectrum of people and keep them up to date with developments and offers
